February 11, 2022

Pre-Season #2 Lambert Longhorns | 22-1 Record, Area 5 Champions, 6A-7A State Champions | Head Coach: Rich Wehman

The Longhorns land at number two in the Top 20 pre-season poll. The 6A-7A State Champs say goodbye to a talent laden group that helped capture the programs 5th ring. That group includes Attackmen Andrew Zeman, Drew Kotanian; Midfielders Will Mangold, Tanner Overbay; LSM Robert Fenters; along with goalie Zach Vlaik. Lambert has a storied program and will look to continue its run as a top-flight program in the Southeast.   Winning is the goal and 2021 was no different then 2011, 2012, 2016 and 2018. The Horns will have a target on their backs as this season gets under way but they have proven time and time again they are a force to be reckoned with.   Lambert returns a wealth of talent throughout the lineup. Jr. Attack Danny Kesselring 1st team All-State, All-American, AJC POY; Jr. Attack Evan Suh; Sr. Midfield Josh Huntington; Jr. Midfield Chris Harper; Sr. Defense Davis Templeton; Jr. Defense Liam Sweeney. In addition to those returning players, Sr. Goalie Hunter Klosterman will be in cage after his transfer from South Forsyth.   The Longhorns play a very tough schedule and have noted key matchups this spring against 1A-5A Champ Blessed Trinity, area rival South Forsyth and Roswell. The Longhorns have also added Coach Dan Kesselring to the staff after coaching Centennial last spring.   “Our team has a very good blend of returning players with talent and experience combined with and infusion of young talented players that are ready for their opportunity.  Some areas of our team will be stronger than we were last year.”- Coach Wehman
